University of Roma Tre – ROM3

The University of Roma Tre was founded in 1992, is the youngest public Athenaeum in Rome, and has 40,000 students. Its research activities are conducted by 12 departments. The Department of Education Science was recently launched after merging 3 former departments in the domains of educational, social and cultural sciences. The University of Roma Tre is also part of the CIRPA (Inter-university Center for Research in Environmental Psychology), together with five other universities in Italy (Rome Sapienza, Padua, Cagliari, Naples 2, Rome LUMSA).

Giuseppe Carrus

He was born in Cagliari, Italy, on February 14th, 1973. He is a researcher in Social Psychology at the Department of Education, University of Roma Tre. He has a PhD in Social Psychology. His main research interests are in the domain of social and environmental psychology and focus on pro-environmental attitudes and identity processes. He is the author and co-author of several publications, including articles in peer-reviewed journals, volumes, and chapters in edited volumes. He is a member of the International Board of IAPS (International Association for People-environment Studies), and member of IAAP (International Association of Applied Psychology), and of the Social Psychology Section of AIP (Italian Psychological Association). He co-edited the Environmental Psychology section within the Encyclopedia of Applied Psychology (Elsevier/Academic Press, 2004). He is being periodically involved as a reviewer and evaluator of scientific articles, for many international journals and institutions, including Journal of Environmental Psychology, Environment and Behavior, Journal of Health Psychology, Urban Forestry & Urban Greening, Society and Natural Resources. He also worked as evaluator for the National Agency for Evaluation of Research in Italy (ANVUR), and as external reviewer for evaluating research projects for the Science, Technology and High Education Ministry of Portugal. He was involved as a coordinator and participant in several funded research grants, including EU FP6 and FP7 projects, ICSU Grant, Italian Ministry of Research (MIUR) PRIN Grant, COST action E39, Roma Tre University funded projects.

Fridanna Maricchiolo

Fridanna Maricchiolo is currently a researcher in Social Psychology at the Department of Education, University of Roma Tre. She obtained her PhD in Social Psychology in 2005 and her doctoral dissertation was awarded the national prize as the best dissertation in Psychology by the Italian Association of Psychology (AIP). Her main research interests are in the domain of social psychology: interpersonal and bodily communication, deception, political communication, intergroup processes, implicit social cognition and automatic behaviours, environmental psychology. Her mainly methodological skills are in observational methods, scaling, psychometrics and statistical analysis. She is the author and co-author of several publications, including articles in peer-reviewed journals, volumes, and chapters in edited volumes. She is an active member of the scientific community being associate member of the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP), International Society of Gesture Studies (ISGS), Associazione Italiana di Psicologia (AIP) and ad-hoc reviewer for the following journals: Human Communication Research; Social Psychology; Rassegna Italiana di Psicologia; Routlege Psychological Press. She was involved as a coordinator and participant in several funded research grants, including FP7 projects, Italian Ministry of Research (MIUR) PRIN Grant, Roma Tre University funded projects.

Angelo Panno

His research focuses on emotion, emotion regulation and decision-making processes. He is interested in how we use emotion-regulation strategies to regulate emotions which occur in making decisions broadly defined (e.g, environmental and economic decisions). He earned his Ph.D. in Social Psychology and his doctoral dissertation was awarded with the national prize as the best dissertation in Psychology by the Italian Association of Psychology. He is the author and co-author of several publications including articles in peer-reviewed journals. His main methodological skills focus on behavioral measures of risk-taking, meta-analysis, mediation and moderation models. He recently obtained a competitive funding from the European Science Foundation and European Social Cognition Network to visit the Behavioural Science Institute – Radboud University of Nijmegen. He also was a visiting scientist at the UvA – University of Amsterdam as well as Columbia University in the City of New York.
